The Unnatural Source
Taking this photo really left me with a heavy feeling. Seeing wildlife interact with our discarded plastic made me realise how unaware they are, and often how unaware we are, that this throwaway culture is quietly destroying us.
It got me thinking about how water should just be a free, basic right. Instead, between the pollution, the plastic waste, and the heavy chemical treatments, we’ve completely stripped away what water is actually supposed to mean for life.
That’s where the title "The Unnatural Source" came from. It reflects the strange, disconnected cycle of bottling our water for convenience, and then just passing the collateral damage straight onto the environment and the animals caught in the middle. After the little guy was finished with this, I did take the bottle to my bag to put in the bin later. I had an amazing interaction with this monkey afterwards.
