Harvesting in the Rain

The rain came in sideways across the paddies, and instead of running for cover the farmers just kept working, bent low, moving through the water like it wasn't there. There's a rhythm to harvest season that no weather can break. I kept my lens dry as long as I could, watching the grey light flatten everything into silver and green. The whole valley seemed to breathe with the storm. I named it Harvesting in the Rain for the stubborn grace of it, people and land working together, no matter what the sky decides.
